What is RMA Anyway?

About The Blog
Hello, welcome to our blog! We are the Teens of the Rubin Museum of Art who created and work on this blog. The Rubin Museum of Art showcases art collections from the Himalayan region. Donald Rubin, one of the co-founders of the RMA, wishes for art to be seen as a connection, a lively experience. Our goal is to make that happen. We are connecting others with Himalayan art specially featured in our museum and art from museums all around NYC. We post our “experiences” ranging from teen events to any NYC event with a hope that others may be inspired to have their own experience. Our blog is nothing without our supporters, so thank you for joining us in this Tumblr experience of our own!

About RMA’s Teen Guide Council
The RMA’s Teen Guide Council is a group of teen leaders who are passionate about the arts and feel that other teens should be too. We recognize that many teens may not appreciate museums or the art showcased in them because they have a reputation to be, well, ‘boring’, and our goal is to change that. During our time at the Rubin, we have all come across art pieces in there that call to each of us, whether or not we believe in the religion that the piece is related to. We believe that art should be an experience, and that considered a universal term that should be understood by everyone and not be an intimidating field to explore.

Teen Programs
The Rubin Museum offers a variety of free teen programs. Teens are able to learn about art as they embark on new places and encounter culture in a new light. If you’re interested in current teen programs/events, check out this link! Feel free to contact any of us if you have any questions/comments or even artistic experiences you would like to share! We’d love to hear about them!
